The last few days together with my team at Kruger were hard. The enemy really attacked me hard the last night. It was a struggle to just simply rebuke the lies that he was trying to plant. My God is so good though, and a simple prayer of faith put the enemy under my feet. Oh sweet victory in Jesus... praise the Lord!

After spending a few days in South Africa we flew out on May 15th. A few of us spent a few days in Paris. It was a good buffer and a neat experience. Michelle and I went into a small super market the first day and we were so overwhelmed at all of the choices. I promise there was a whole aisle of yogurt alone. After being in between my two homes for a few days I was ready to get somewhere. I arrived home on the 21st of May. It's almost been two weeks since I've been home. Crazy. In a way it feels like I've been home awhile, but in another sense its feels like I'm just arriving. Life is once again a rush, a rush I'm trying to avoid. Its so weird being in place that is "home" and where I know everyone and nothing really has changed, but still it seems to be a not so simple adjustment. Home isn't quite home anymore. Jumping back in the sea of life... the rush/worries of this fast paced life tries to consume me once again... school, finding a job, running errands, and catching up on everything. So I feel like I've been plunged right back into American society. It's good to be home though.

I started summer classes today. I plan to finish my associate's degree this fall and start a teaching program in the spring. I'm really excited about the next season of my life. I'm on a job hunt for something that will fit into my school schedule. I don't know fully what it will look like yet, but I know the Lord will have his hand in it.

Thank you for all of your prayers and support over the past year.
It is finished... for now

Yesterday was our last day in ministry. It is just so surreal that we aren't going to be going back to the care-point next week. Lindsey and I went early to the care-point so we could spend all day with the kids and gogos. We wrote each gogo a letter and printed off pictures for them. We bought two big boxes of cookies to share with the kids. Before we gave out the cookies we told them all how much we loved them and will miss them. Then we all sang a couple of songs. A few of the older kids came up to us and told us thank you for everything and that they would miss us. One little boy was so cute because he was so nervous he was stuttering as he told us thank you.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The gogos made us both purses, and Nomsa made us two mats. They are really cool, because they are made from candy wrappers. We walked to Nomsa's house and she gave us potatoes and asked us to pray with her and her sick aunt.

Bongmusa a ten year old boy we are pretty close to wrote me this tiny little note that says "I love you Ashley and I will miss you". It was so small, because he didn't want the other little boys to see and make fun of him. As soon as he handed it to us he ran away. It was so stinkin cute! I think we hugged everyone a million times! All the people we have met are so amazing- I don't want to come home yet. We are going to Kruger for debrief and I'm not excited at all.

As I was playing with the kids for the last time... it just didn't seem like the last time. I know I will be back. Lindsey and I are already talking about coming back next January. Maybe it isn't hitting me, because I already have made up my mind that I will be back.

It was awesome, because a lot of our teammates came with us. We were able to spend some time with the kids. We played a few games and gave them cookies. Marissa, one of our leaders, bought some maize mill and sugar for them. It was so cool, because we usually can't bring a lot of stuff when we take public transportation. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

We all sat down on mats in their home, and Marcus shared the word with them. And Ben shared a testimony. Then we had all of the children pray over the grandfather for healing. He told us that he has been walking around more, and when we went outside he got out of his wheelchair and walked! I'm so glad we were able to go one last time and say goodbye.

Well on this side of the world everything is going good. I think everyone on my team is trying to get mentally prepared to come home. We have only 8 days of ministry left. May 7th is our last day in ministry. Please pray for me and my team as we prepare to come home. Pray for our adjustment and our hearts. From May 9th to the 13th we are going to <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Kruger National Park in South Africa for debrief.

Recently I've been fighting a cold. Someone sick drank out of my nalgene carelessly, so for about a week now I've been fighting a cold. Praise the Lord I'm winning with the Lord on my side.

I'm looking forward to come home and see everyone again. I'm excited to be poured into again. I can't wait to share with you what the Lord has done. So please ask me and I will be more than happy to share with you. I want to share with you more than my trip was "good" and what I ate. Because my trip has been really good and the food I have eaten has been the same as in America. Maybe not as delightful at first because coke tastes a little different and so does KFC, but I adjusted.

I will go ahead and cover the food base:

Someone gave us a chicken last week so we killed it in our front yard and cooked it. Some of my friends ate the eyeballs, feet, and intestines. Nothing was wasted. I've experienced eating this green slimy substance, and it was an experience. The normal food for Swazis to eat is "pop and beans". "Pop" is corn maize- it is white- it looks like mashed potatoes, but it tastes pretty bland. When you add beans to pop it is actually pretty good. My favorite thing to eat is "ice block" which I plan to make when I get home. It's a Popsicle in a sandwich bag. They cost five American cents and they sale them mostly in the rural area. It's really refreshing when you are sweaty and tired. Lindsey and I treat ourselves a lot to Nandos - its my favorite place to eat. I always get a cheese and chicken sandwich. My favorite drink here is Fanta grape. Its funny because I never drink it when I'm home. And this is sad news all of Manzini is out of Fanta grape. We also like to treat ourselves to ice cream cones. As far as eating with my team goes we always eat dinner together. We all trade out cooking every week. Mostly we eat things that can be made in bulk. The food that is prepared is mostly American. We eat pasta, hamburgers, chicken, tomato soup, rice, fruit salad, lots of salads.

All of us on this trip have spent so many months here in another country for the Lord. A full school year- honestly we have nothing else to talk about. This has been our life. God has done so many good things. He has rocked our lives! He has rocked other's lives through us! My heart is to know what he has done in your lives as well. The Lord doesn't just do things in Africa. The mission field is in America too. He effects everyone, because he is everywhere. He loves us all extremely! What has he been doing in yours? Prepare yourself because I'm going to ask you.

So please please please ask me about my time here ask me more than just "how was your trip?" and then pat me on the back. I really do want to share with you more than just "good". The Lord is so awesome and he deserves the glory more than just a "good".

Hey Everyone!

I created a new blog acount today with xanga, because I don't know when my aim blog will be deleted. And I might now blog on this account many more times before I come home. I plan to add all of my pictures and videos when i get home. I have hundreds of photos from my time here in Swaziland that my aim blog won't hold. Because Africa's internet is slow and it cost a lot of money to use the internet I'm not able to do as much as I would like. I know I will be able to do a lot more when I get home. So please check out my new blog in a few weeks. Even better subscribe to it. Hopefully I can continue to blog about what the Lord is doing in my life. I love you guys!

The Thursday night sleep over with the little girls from our care-point was so good. We took the children on public with all their little backpacks. So we stuffed in the seats with two girls on each of our laps. They were so excited! Many of our babies have never been to town before. So when we arrived in the Manzini bus rank one little girl gasped in amazement at the hundreds of Kombies. I strapped Sethu on my back like a swazi woman, and all of the Swazi people we passed looked at us really funny. We took them to KFC for ice-cream. They told Zanele that they didn't know ice-cream was cold. The ice-cream fell out of Sethu and Nomvuyo's cones onto the floor, but all in all it was a success.

The girls all ran towards the house as we opened the gate even little Sethu. We prepared a room downstairs for them. They each had a goody pile with treats, pictures, and a stuffed puppy waiting for them. Each little girl was so thrilled. The girls spent the afternoon playing with their new toys and eating their treats. After dinner they all took bubbles baths. They freaked out when I turned on the sprayer. I think their favorite thing about coming over was using the toilet. They all would run into the bathroom at the same time and take turns using the toilet.

They were all so behaved and precious. Even Sethu slept all night. We went into town one last time before going back to the care-point and bought them all new school shoes. They were so proud. When we got to the care-point they were showing off their new things to the gogos and telling them all about their stay at our house. It was so much fun having them over. It really makes us sad though, because we are leaving them so soon and spending more time with them away from the care-point makes is so much harder. And next Thursday we are having the boys over.

As I read the word the Lord is continually showing me that he has called his dearly beloved to extraordinary lives- fully alive. Lately I've been reading about the Israelites journey to the Promised Land and a little in Matthew. The bible is crazy! Have you ever really opened your eyes to see how crazy the bible is? If so you will understand that the Lord of all creation has not called us to comfortable lives. The other day I read this book by Tom Davis "Fields of the Fatherless" and in it he says "the harvest is ready, but we are too busy painting the barn."

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

James 1:27

There is so much action in the scriptures. Why is there so much complacency in the body? Love is an action word. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and strength, and love others as yourself. When you love others you love God as well. Jesus says to give to anyone who asks (Matthew 5:47). He doesn't put stipulations and exceptions on it either. He doesn't say give to those who you think need something or look hungry, but give to anyone who asks. I'm telling you the scriptures are crazy. If someone asks for your coat offer your shirt as well. Being here on the mission field gives more perspective on scripture. It's not rare for someone to ask you for something as you walk down the street. You see young boys guiding cattle like the shepherds that came to meet baby Jesus. The young boys are age twelve or younger just like the shepherds in the New Testament. These are just some examples.

Seek ye first his kingdom and his righteousness and all of these will be added unto you. Loving God and others is Kingdom. Jesus doesn't say well if you could possibly make time, and oh if you have enough extra money could you please help the fatherless, widow, and alien. Loving the fatherless, widow, and alien aren't just things some "Christians" do it's a given in God's book- after all we are his hands and feet. For whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did (1John2:6).

They are going to have so much fun! We want to let them play in a bubble bath and watch a Disney movie. Hopefully we will get to wash their clothes in our washing machine. I can't wait to see them and love on them again tomorrow!

There was enough space for all 11 of them. Everything worked out so perfectly in less than an hour. Praise the Lord! I walked all of the children to the school and they were sized for uniforms. They were all so excited! The teachers wrote down all of their names and gave us a price. For 11 children it added up to be less than two thousand dollars for uniforms and school fees for the rest of the year. We are so excited for all of our babies to start school. It just works out so perfect, because the school is so convenient for all of the children to walk to, the parents won't have to pay extra bus fare, and they can still go to the care-point after school.

They were so excited and proud of the work they did that day. Each one showed me their papers. The teachers told me they did very well. Nomsawah the make (mother) at the care-point made porridge to take to the school to feed our kids and she ended up feeding the whole pre-school. After school the teacher wrote me the official school fee slips and ended up subtracting $65.00 off each child's fee because they didn't attend the first semester. The teacher told me that she would be so convicted if she charged us for it, because it would not be right. I praise the Lord for that, and I am glad our children will be under the authority of a woman with such noble character. On Tuesday we brought the children their new backpacks and lunch boxes. They were all so thrilled.

We want to support the children until they finish high school, and this is a good starting point. So we need your help. Would your prayerfully consider partnering with us in supporting these children in being educated? Unfortunately school is not free like it is in the states, so many children aren't able to attend or finish school. But it is so important, because here in Swaziland there aren't enough jobs for the uneducated. We long to see our children grow up and be prosperous and this is the best way we can help see it come to pass. I have created a slideshow of the children you could help get an education. We are working it out with the staff over care-points here in Swaziland to pay the school fees with the money we send to them, and hopefully be kept updated on their progress. I plan to come back each summer to visit, so I would also be able to keep you updated on the child you choose to sponsor educationally.

provision

As our time is coming to a close at the care-point we are looking into ways we can continue to support the children. Since the care-point is sponsored by Children's Hope Chest, an organization partnered with AIM, the care-point and each individual child is suppose to be sponsored by a church in the States. I really like Children's Hope Chest and AIM, because I can see the actual fruit of what they proclaim they are doing. Lindsey, our parents, and I don't want to leave a deficit with the Children we have been teaching, so we wish to make sure their school fees are met for years to come and we want to be updated on the children's status. We hope to work something out with the staff here in Swaziland. There are six children that have been consistently coming over the past three months. They are all between the ages of 2 and 6. These are their names:
Tandzi Nkonde -She is a brilliant five year old. She love pictures and smiles a lot.
Faneliso Mkhaliphi -Her mother doesn't know her age, but I would guess she is five. She is precious and craves a lot of love. Her mother is mentally challenged. She is very hyper active and silly. I know she will do well especially if she gets into school early.
Nokwanda Mkhatjwa -She is six years old and takes care of her brother and sister (the 2 listed below) when her mother isn't home, which is very often. She is very quiet and has progressed so much in the time we have spent with her.
Nomvuyo Mkhatjwa -She is four years old. She is shy and sweet. She has done very well the past few months. Nomvuyo loves to grab you by the hand and run.
Sethu Mkhatjwa- He is about 2 years old and a mess. We have spoiled him rotten. He loves to dance and has the funniest personality. He has stolen all of our hearts.
Owethu ( I do not have his sir name yet) - Owethu just turned 4 in March. He is very brilliant for his age. He speaks good English and excels at all the work we throw at him. He is so handsome and precious.
So by next school year most will be at an age to attend pre-school or school. We hope that the informal schooling has prepared them for their future learning. Many of the children are so brilliant, and we wish to see them succeed in life. They really are the future that could change Swaziland. We pray that they will be the seeds of righteousness that will change a stagnant kingdom into a kingdom of righteousness and light. We also pray that they will be an educated people to turn around the economy with new ideas and jobs In Jesus Name. Please continue to pray for our babies that are so dear to our Lord's heart. Pray that a partnership can be worked out for their provision.

We explained the importance of Christ's death and resurrection. The children acted it out and they did very well. It was one of the best times we have had with all of the school children. We decided to take our time and it ended up taking over two hours, but the children were so attentive in the hot sun. We explained how Jesus told his disciples that it is better that he leaves, because if he didn't then the Spirit of truth could not come. We explained how satan was disarmed and we now have authority in Christ. We asked the children if they were aware that satan is real, and we made it clear that he is real and has plans to harm us, but we do not fear because he is defeated- we have authority over him in the name of Jesus! Before we finished we explained salvation and how the Holy Spirit will come and live in you. We asked if any of them had not prayed the pray of salvation to stand in the middle. ALL of the children came in the middle and prayed. Oh praise the Lord! After we screamed Jesus is Alive! And he lives in me!! I want all of these precious children to know how much God loves them-that they are not forgotten- and that they have authority in Christ!

It was so good to have them here with me. I was able to show so much of what I have been telling them about. For so long they have heard about all of the sweet babies and they have seen pictures, but now they have actually seen them, held them, and fallen in love with them as much as I have.

So we finally got our chance to cook. They entrusted us with the keys to the container, and agreed to let us do everything without them there on Thursday and Friday. So everything went smoothly. On Friday we gave out clothes to the children. There was over eighty toothbrushes and toothpastes, and we didn't have enough so over a hundred children came and received clothes. Praise God there was enough clothes!

It was so good. Ben and my mom gave testimonies of what the Lord has done in their lives. Ben talked about how the Lord healed him. And my mom talked about how she dedicated her children to the Lord, because when I was still in her womb the umbilical cord was wrapped around my neck. She talked about how Satan had plans to kill me, but the Lord had a plan for my life. We shared from the Word of God in 1Samuel, and how Hannah dedicated Samuel to the Lord. We prayed over everyone in the room. Kakotji told us that he understood the story of Samuel, but he also believes God because of the word of the testimonies given. He said that since the last time we prayed for him that he is able to walk around the homestead. Before, he was always in the bed or in the wheelchair. Glory to God! One of the mothers brought up her baby for prayer and told us she was dedicating him to the Lord. I am excited to go back and see what the Lord has done in answering the prayers.

The school officials told his mom that the condition of Tando attending is only if she is there at all times. And all I can think is that four months is not enough. I've already decided that 2 weeks isn't enough, although I believe any missions trip is awesome. I strongly encourage everyone to go out and serve the Lord in another country at least once. I also strongly believe that missions is something you do in your own country as well, not just in another country. I claim the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />kingdom of God over Cedartown, Georgia. I can't wait to get back, because I want the Lord to use me at home. I am so torn, because I am crying out to God that my time here is not long enough. I want to see him do so much here and I want to be used here as well.

Authority in Christ

It just seems like this week so much has been revealed about the works of the enemy here in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Swaziland. Satan has told the people here so many lies. Praise the Lord that God raises up a standard against it. We proclaim that Swaziland is a kingdom of light. Sunday night a lady was screaming on the road in front of our home. A man was beating her without any regards that we were watching. For many in Swaziland they see that beating your wife comes along with marriage. It is a lie straight from hell itself. Some are okay with it. No one deserves to be beaten. Our boys went out to talk with the man and we brought the woman inside the gate to keep her safe. Some of the girls helped her to the shower, gave her clothes, and listened to her story. She was drunk from a bar. She has had a hard life. Her name is Noshloshlo. She is 24 years old and an orphan. The Lord showed us how much he loves. He brought her to us for protection, to show her love, and tell her that there is hope. The Lord taught me so much. We all gathered and prayed for her. God revealed that she was possessed by many demons. They manifested themselves. They just laughed at us as we prayed. We were not praying in the full authority Christ has given us. We were weak and doubting. To me it was a sad and hard lesson. We are they body of Christ and we possess the authority of Christ. We fasted for her the next day. I am believing that she will come back to our home and that we will see deliverance in her life. The Lord also taught me about the gift of intercession. God has really been speaking to me a lot in the Old Testament lately. So in Judges it says many times about how "the Spirit of the Lord came upon him" it just stands out so much. I began to ask the Lord what that fully means. And gifts of the spirit have been explained to me that they are gifts that you give away. Makes sense right? A Gift is something you give away. The Lord can give you the gift of healing and you pray over someone and give it away. The Lord hands it down for that appointed time and you give it away. So when we were praying for Noshloshlo the Spirit of the Lord came upon me and prompted me to pray for her. Although I hesitated I was obedient and prayed for her with the strength and compassion that only comes from the Lord. So the Lord didn't just tell me about it he showed me.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Even though we did not see her delivered at that time we all learned important lessons. Many have never encountered spiritual warfare before much less been taught about it back home. I've never had to pray over someone demon possessed until last semester. But what I am getting at is that the Lord teaches us to be alert and ready at all times for every circumstance. I wish we could be raised in the Lord in such a way that we understand that darkness is real, but that we have full authority over all principalities and darkness because of Christ and what he accomplished on the cross. But no one wants to discuss the gifts of the spirit and spiritual warfare in our churches, because the church has falsely taught that it is chaotic and not relevant anymore. Let me just say that is a lie from hell itself. Satan doesn't want us to recognize and walk in the authority in Christ. He is happy that most of the body of Christ walks around luke- warm. I wish we could understand the importance of it, because it is totally relevant especially now. Jesus is alive and he lives in you!! Be aware. Be alert. Recognize the authority you have in Christ. You have the keys of the kingdom use them. Praise and glory to God for all of the wonderful gifts (of the spirit) he has bestowed on us!

My friend Treasure was telling me about how elections are coming up in Swaziland. It is not good, because these men use witchcraft to get elected. Not all of the officials do it. Elections occur every five years here in Swaziland. Although there is a King, there are also prime ministers and other officials. There is a lot of corruption. They kill people to get body parts to use in witchcraft. So they kill anyone even children. It mostly happens in the rural areas at homesteads, because it is quiet there and spread out. It is so devastating. No one is coming against this awful crime, because it involves high officials. So please partner with me in prayer against the witchcraft and God's Justice. Pray that God will place righteous men in those seats. In Jesus' Name!

March 17, 2008

On Monday like most, Lindsey and I were making our way to
the care point. But on our walk to catch the public kombis we found out that
they were on strike for higher wages. So we didn't have a way to the care
point. Instead we walked with Elisa to her ministry locations at the market,
hope house, and hospital. We walked all over town. After leaving the market
this crowd of people come running by us. One woman tripped and fell down losing
her shoe. Many of the street venders frantically began to pack away all their
merchandise and flee. We were really confused and didn't know what was going
on. So we continued to walk up the street. Then this mob of men appeared in
front of us. There were about 25 to 30 of them. They had sticks in hand and were
making their way down the street in the direction we were coming from. As they
passed us they said, "Hey how are you white people?" and then kept marching. It
was quite bazaar. A block over and minutes later two cop trucks pass by us with
helmets on and guns in hand. So needless to say we had an eventful day in
Manzini.

For the past few weeks textile workers in Matsapha have been
boycotting because the Chinese owners of the company are unjust. They lowered
their wages over time from R400 to R300. So their wages went from a little less
than 60 dollars to less than 40 dollars American. Imagine supporting your
family on 40 dollars every two weeks. I can't imagine paying school fees, rent,
transportation fees, and meals on that low of wages. All of the workers were fired, because the
employers claimed they could just hire more workers. Since the workers weren't
able to go to work the public transport was not making the same amount of money
taking them back and forth. So on Monday the public transport boycotted on
behalf of the textile workers and a new bill that was passed for transport
drivers to buckle up. Public transport drivers boycotting is brilliant, because no one in Swaziland can function without them. And the government can't keep ignoring the issues at hand. So all in all Manzini and all of Swaziland was
in chaos on Monday. But the Lord is working it out for the good of the people,
because the government is now negotiating for better terms for the workers. I
am glad to see justice being served here in Swaziland.

This past Saturday for family ministry our whole team came
out to our care point. It was a fun day of games and sweets (candy). We surprised our Gogos (ladies that cook).
They were delighted to have us. Some of the girls gathered the children up to
sing silly songs. Others painted faces and gave out sweets. Ben made all of the
children balloon animals and hats. The young children enjoyed popping them. We
acted out the crucifixion, and then had the funniest relay races ever. In the
first race we had partners run with a balloon in between them. The second race
was the crab crawl. The third we had the children put on big skirts, a shirt,
and a hat over their own clothes. They had to race to put on the crazy clothes
and run to the other side and immediately take the silly clothes off and the
next person went until a team finished first. The little ones even participated
in all of the races. They had big efforts and were so cute racing to the finish
giggling so hard. We enjoyed bringing our team to meet all of our precious
children and Gogos. It was a great day to pour in a lot of fun and love.

The days are getting colder. An each cold day brings me one
closer to my parents arriving. On Saturday they will be here! Please continue
to pray for them and their travels. They fly out of Atlanta on Thursday March 20. I'm ecstatic!
The building project for our care point will be started by the time they
arrive. They negotiated the land on Monday. The Lord is working everything out
for his glory. And Lindsey's parents are coming as well. Her mom flies out the
26th and her dad a week later. Please keep her family in your
prayers as they travel and spend time here in Swaziland. The weather is opposite
of that in America,
so right now we are entering into winter. Its been cooling off and raining a
lot.

Africa we were able to visit in
Atteridgeville. It was a short, but sweet time. The children walked with us to
Francina's. Francina and Michael were both home. She shared glasses of coke with
all of us and the children like each time before. Francina has such a good
heart. We brought each child inside one at a time to give them new clothes.
They were so excited. I think we were all just as excited as they were. We
longed for the children to have new clothes, because they still had on the same
ones we remembered from months before. Unashamed the children tore off their
clothes and underwear so they could put on the new ones. There was just enough
for each child to have a shirt, pants, and new underwear. Some of our children
we found out had moved away, but four new faces came that day. On the way up the hill I prayed and asked the Lord to let there be enough clothes. There was just enough. We were
disappointed to not see familiar sweet little faces, but so thankful there was
enough clothes for all of them.

On our way down the hill Francina's friend I did not
recognize shared some of her own story with me. Recently her husband had left
her to support her two children on her own. She has a girl in school who is
nine and little boy who is two. She told me that Francina was an old friend she
knew would comfort her. Francina found her a place to live nearby. Michael was
very good with her baby boy. I wish our time could have been longer, but it was
a sweet reunion.

O man it brings me such sweet joy to know the little boy once with out expression is now a little boy full of life.

They know that they are sinners. They do not boast in their sinfulness, but keep it in perspective. Because us saints look down on the sinners. We stick our noses up because "we are the chosen of God with our rights and treasures in heaven"- As we walk right past the very ones Jesus not only stopped to talk to, but spent time with.

I absolutely love this man, and his family. We got to meet a few more of his family members. Esther fed us againpop, spinach, and slime. Lindsey and I managed to get down half of the pop. I ended up trying the slime, and then I asked Lindsey in front of the whole family if she was going to try it. She couldn't avoid it then- it was quite funny. The rest of our visit was so sweet. We found out that two of Kakotji's boys are pastors at the church on their homestead. It turns out that they are Zionists. I have been told that a Zionist is not a good thing, but later I asked my friend Treasure about it and she said that she doesn't like it, but its not satanic or anything. At the time alarms were going in my head- oh no! It was so cool, because at the very time I asked if I could read scripture before we prayed and had to leave five men from their church showed up. I spoke about the verse I typed above and Hosea. I believe the Lord has sent us there to instill truth. Kakotji told us that he sees the darkness disappearing and he has seen a light that he hasn't fully seen before. They said our words has shown them that they need to repent. The man said ever since we came to him at the hospital he has been "Jabula"(very happy)- his illness is very low. He said he was thankful that we came to speak the word of God. That we have encouraged them to move forward and grow as God wants them to away from darkness. It was so encouraging. God is so good! He also said that he felt like Zachieous sitting in the tree when we came to him at the hospital. It was the very story we were teaching the children at the carepoint that week. Praise the Lord.

We had only met Mildred one time on the public transport two weeks before. She welcomed us into her home and cooked us a really nice meal and gave us ice cream. She told us more of her story. Mildred was married to a muslim man for 13 years, and 5 years ago he kicked her out of their home because he was seeing another woman. She went through a lot and at the same time her father passed away. She has two children with this man, but they are living with him in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />South Africa. I know she stills hurts, because talked about it a lot to us that day. She seemed as though she will be open to hearing the word of the Lord. I know the Lord wants to speak life and home into her life. Her home was one of the nicest I have seen in Swaziland. I felt so at home it made me a little home sick. I can't wait to visit her again this week.

This past week we have a new addition to the ministry at the care-point: Zenele. She is a 23 year old Swazi lady. Zenele is wonderful, and very good at teaching the children. It is a perfect picture of locals impacting their community for <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Swaziland.

We average about six younger children in the morning for the teachings. Each morning we go to the children's homes and gather them up. We have been working on the alphabet, numbers, counting, and a bible story. Each week we stick with the same bible story so the children will really remember it. Last week we told the story of Zachieous. This week we are teaching the story of Jesus washing the disciples' feet. We are going to wash the children's feet on Thursday and paint their toe nails. And we are going to have the children wash the Gogos feet as well.

His name is say-to(it is written the best way it sounds for your sake). Last week say-to's mom put a dress on him, because there weren't any clean clothes for her to put on him. We got some soap to her, and the children had on clean clothes yesterday. Another little girl has stolen my heart. Her name is Nahebo(actually has a click in it, but written how it sounds). Nahebo is about 5 years old, she is a very quiet little girl. She keeps her head down and is very shy. I know there has to be more to her situation. When I pick her up she is stiff as a board, because she doesn't know how to be loved. She falls asleep most days. I feel like there is an abusive situation and neglect. Her nose is always running (we have been giving her medicine for that). She is very smart, but lacks confidence when we teach her one on one. So we have been really encouraging her as we work with her. We found out yesterday that she started school. Grade one. I'm really excited for her. Please keep her in your prayers.

We met Kakotji and his wife Esther the Saturday before at the hospital in Manzini. He caught my eye because he was sitting in a wheelchair by himself in the corner of the outdoor waiting area. We met with him and found out his situation. There was a security guard and a town official standing nearby who translated for Lindsey and me. We asked how we could find Kakotji at the hospital if we came back to visit and they ended up giving us directions to his homestead.

So we promised to visit on Wednesday, but we thought that we had missed the bus that would take us that day. Lindsey, Ben, and I waited around for 2 or 3 hours in hopes that the bus would come, but it never did. We ended up meeting a pastor waiting for another bus. It was an awesome blessing to talk with him. The Lord had other plans for us that day.

Since we had made a promise we felt so bad that we had broken it, so we decided to try again on Thursday. We arrived earlier on Thursday. We got to the bus rank at 8:30 and waited around until 10:30. The bus finally came. The Lord totally had his hand over us that day. As soon as we sat down on the bus a man asked us if we were going to visit his cousin, and told us that he would tell us where to get off and how to get there.

When we finally got off the bus the man directed us like he said he would. As we began to walk down the dirt road all of the children began to follow us. Then a man walked up and introduced himself as "blessed"(that's what his name translates into). He turned out to be Kakotji's son. And he spoke really good English. Again the Lord just had his hand in our visit so much. He not only directed us without any problems, but he provided someone to translate. Blessed is 32 and has 5 children from different mothers.

We entered Kakotji's home along with all of the children. The children turned out to be some of Kakotji's grandchildren. His home has two rooms. The room we sat in was plain cement with one bed, two chairs, and a cat. We apologized for not coming the day before and we discovered that the bus did not run at all on Wednesday. Blessed told us that they had prepared a meal for us and invited all of their family the day before. We asked Kakotji if the doctor saw him after we left on Saturday and he told us no. He said he was very angry, but he was so happy that the Lord sent us to pray for him that day. It just stinks that he had traveled so far and waited so long, and he didn't even get to see a doctor. He also told us that he wanted us to pray for him again and for his deaf granddaughter. She is very shy and sweet. When you look at her she just smiles and looks away.

It was such a humbling day. We brought a few apples and bananas, and they gave us many berries and a big pumpkin. They also fed us. They gave us the chairs and Kakotji is crippled and sat on the bed the whole visit while everyone else sat on the floor. We were able to wash Esther and Kakotji's feet and pray for them. We ended up praying for Kakotji, Esther, Blessed, a three month old baby, two men who just happened to walk by, and the little deaf girl. One of the men was having trouble with his foot, and the other just wanted prayer. I really believe the Lord wants to heal the granddaughter.

We were only able to spend an hour and a half with him, because the bus was only returning at one particular time. The Lord blessed our time so much and we plan to visit again in the next week.

Usually the men are really rude and straight forward. They say "I love you" "Marry me" so we just come to expect it. But this man said something different. He walked up and stuck his hand out with a ten cent coin in his hand, and asked for money. Since we aren't allowed to give out money I asked him a question. He proceeded to ask us for a job. We told him that we didn't have a job for him, because we didn't even have jobs ourselves. He looked at us confused. I told him that the Lord will give him a job if he asked him. He told us that he prayed everyday for the Lord to give him a job. He also said that he prayed and thanked the Lord, but he was still hungry. We told him that when he prayed for the Lord to provide him with a job that he should walk out in faith and look for a job and the Lord would open the right doors. He looked at us and told us that we were white and favored by the Lord. He said you white people are special to the Lord. Lindsey and I both looked at him and told him that the Lord loves him too and has a plan for his life. He then asked us to pray for him and ask the Lord to give him a job. As we started to pray the kombie began to drive away, but the man ran along side the kombie as we finished praying. Lord I believe you will provide this man with a job. I believe we will see him soon and he will tell us what the Lord has done.

My prayer over the past few months is asking the Lord again and again to place within my heart-His heart. His heart. His heart for <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Swaziland. His heart for the nations. I've been asking not quite knowing the depth and reality of what that truly means. That's why I asked. He began to show me that it doesn't start with the nations. It starts with the greatest commandments. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and strength. And love others as yourself." Well it makes sense: love the Lord, and love the people he has already placed in my life. So he has been taking me on a journey, and just painting this beautiful picture. I'm calling it the journey of my heart. He is showing me what it really means to love him and live this verse out. I believe God has a heart for the nations. Through much of the writings of the prophets, and the psalms the Lord declares over and over again that his glory will be known among the nations. But the overlying truth above his heart for the nations is his heart for His name. It's about His glory, "that his glory be known throughout the earth."

Worship should be the driving force of missions. Jesus came to do his father's will, so that the father may be glorified (John 12:27-28). Colossians 1:16 says that we were created by him and for him. We were created to worship. God wants the works of his hands to worship him, not man worshipping the works of their own hands. If we really want to know how to look an orphan in the eye and have a compassionit doesn't start with feeling pity- it starts with a love for God that his name may be known and glorified. We can only move in pity and our own feelings for so long- it will in fact fade. If our heart for the nations doesn't derive from a love for what matters to God's heart then it won't last.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Churches that are not centered on the exaltation of the majesty and beauty of God will scarcely kindle a fervent desire to "declare his glory among the nations" (Ps. 96:3). Even outsiders feel the disparity between the boldness of our claim upon the nations and the blandness of our engagement with God.

You have heard that worship is not just a song, but a lifestyle. It is true. But worship is not just action, but affection. Back at the end of December I went to a youth conference with my youth group. It breaks my heart- we are a selfish generation. We expect everything to be handed to us and suit our needs.I got so frustrated, because a lot of the youth are real cynical about how good the band has to be for them to be into it. This is what burdened my heart that weekend, and honestly still does. This is the cry of my heart: To say that worship is not about us. We are a people who rely on feelings and presentation. We stand in a worship service failing to give God the glory, because we give the enemy a foothold. I'm so sick of my selfishness and the western church's mentality- we think just because the music doesn't please us, we are having a bad day, or we just don't "feel" like it- we won't worship God with all of our heart. I'm so stinkin guilty of it. I'm not saying we have to worship a certain way in a worship service- I'm talking about the intent of our heart. Worship is in our hearts- even so it isn't just about a "worship service" that's actually far from it, because it doesn't start there. It starts in the heart. Because if we can't stand in a worship service with the right attitude in our hearts-How can we be living sacrifices? Worship begins in the heart.

Worship starts with the affections of our hearts. Where the Spirit of the Lord is -there is freedom. We now follow the Spirit- Not the law. If we live by the Spirit, then we aren't striving to keep the law ourselves. We worship in Spirit and in truth. May our praise be effortless. When I am striving- I'm trying to live this life on my own strength. He said my power is made perfect in weakness. That's where religion comes in. Man I hate everything about religion, even just the word. When we are striving, and not depending on God- We start coming up with our own rules and regulations, because our efforts are getting us no where, but circles. Circles that go around and around the mountain when we should be climbing it. I know there are times to be in the valley, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm sick and disgusted with my own "strength". It is so ridiculous when I step back and look at it. I am set free by His Spirit. Why aren't I walking in that-In the freedom of His Spirit all the time? The enemy has deceived us into thinking that we have to strive to keep our salvation and move forward. If we didn't have to earn this salvation, then why in the world would we have to work to keep it? Just follow His Spirit. If we could ever get a hold of what it really means to worship the true and living God we say that we live for Oh man. The reason Sunday morning worship is so dead is because we haven't taken hold of what it means to live a life of worship in our everyday lives. We haven't allowed him to simply love us. Our hearts aren't captivated by the one who made us- we are too caught up on the things our hands have made.

Ministry this past week didn't look like I thought it would. We were totally prepared with lesson plans to start teaching this week. We showed up at the care point Tuesday morning and it was deserted. There weren't any gogos or children. Since it was the first day school for the children who are old enough and can afford it we figured that it had a lot to do with that. We decided to stick around for an hour more to see if anyone would show up. So we prayed a little bit over the care point. After about thirty minutes a little boy showed up and hung out with us. His name is Bongmusa. He is ten years old and in grade five. I recognized his face from the previous week at the care point. The previous week his hair was grown out a little more and he had lots of white twigs on top. This day his hair had been cut really short. I guess he had it cut to start back school. He told us that he didn't go back to school that day because he had eaten too much fruit and gotten sick. He is a very precious boy. He read out of a children's bible I had brought. He reads very well. He also drew us a picture of Chris Brown and colored it. It could come across funny and cute, but it stinks that children across the nations are being influenced by the rappers of America and MTV. We learned that he lives with his mother and siblings. His dad never comes around, and there are too many siblings to count.

He is the author of a book I just finished reading, The Red Letters, it is a really good book I highly recommend. I was going to go to the hospital, but I decided to just stay back and spend time with the Lord.

I really don't mind taking public. You learn a lot from it actually. It was a blessing though to not have to walk to go take public. Anyways our leader took us to the rural area where our care points are. When we got to our care point and there wasn't anyone there again. It was kind of discouraging, because we want to be consistent and build relationships and we can't do that if no one is there. But that is life in missions- plans change. We ended up going to the gogo's meeting where they cut the material to make the purses. We were able to participate in the songs and teaching the teacher taught that day. It was kind of frustrating though, because this big group of white people pulled up in this nice van. I'm sure they are nice people with good hearts, but it just stunk because they made it seem like a show. It was as if they were being paraded around and given a tour of the ministries like a drive thru movie.

We ended hanging out with the two gogos. It was a very hot day so we shared popsicles and a newspaper. There weren't any children until after school, because the gogo had arrived late that morning. No gogo no food equals zero kids. Please pray for consistency with the gogos.

Our whole team went to the hospital together. Lindsey and I went to the maternity ward first and only stayed a few minutes. We ended up going to the waiting area and met this man and his wife Esther. The man is elderly and in a wheel chair. It is very rare to see older swazi-men because Aids has wiped out a whole generation of men. We were able to share a banana with him and pray with him. He said he was there because he had very bad bladder problems. He was skin and bones, so he could very well have Aids. We ended up getting directions to his home in a town outside of Manzini. We plan to visit him on Wednesday.

Please pray for us.
