I don't like the thought that ministry is just in a township, creshe, or carepoint. Ministry should be our every day lives as well. So Last Sunday I realized that when we are out in town running errands we pass over so many hungry and hurting people. Since we are white people always walk up to us asking for food for money and so many times we just say no I'm sorry I can't help you have a good day, good bye, because we get it so often. It is evident that so many of the people that approach us do have needs. And maybe we don't have food on us, or money to give, but we have something better! We can take the time to pour into them and give them spiritual food. We can pray for them and the needs expressed and not expressed. So Sunday afternoon after making up my mind about this the Lord said here is your chance. We walked out of the internet café and some of our friends were talking to this man who was begging for food. He was wearing a blue worker jumpsuit. From his appearance and countenance it was evident he was in need. He was missing a few teeth in the front; his eyes were missing something too. Our friends asked us if we had any food to give him or they were going to buy him something. I had some crackers in my backpack to give him. When I handed him the crackers I made an emphasis that I was giving them to him in the name of Jesus. After talking to him some more we found out that his name is Gram and he is 28, but he looked so much older. He told us that he didn't like it here and he wanted to get out of Jeffery's Bay. He washes cars for a living. So I asked if we could pray for him and if there was anything specific we could pray for. He told us to pray for luck and I said ok we will pray for favor. It was really good because 30 minutes after we talked and prayed with him some of our boys took him out to eat and got to know him a little better. They found out that he had been stabbed in the neck before and he has lost both of his parents. It has been really good to see people stepping up this week and not just walking by those in need. It is so sad that a whole generation has been wiped out because of aids. We have met so many children who don't have any family left because of aids.
