We are down to our last few days of the trip. It has been really amazing to spend it here in Jeffery's Bay next to the beautiful ocean. Last Wednesday I saw my first beached whale. It was big, dead, and stinky. One of the locals jumped on top of it for pictures. It was quite funny.
I am counting down… 7 days and I will be on my way home. I haven't experienced the beach a whole lot yet, because the weather has been chilly and we have spent a lot of our days in sessions. This past Sunday we went to church in a township. It was really good. There was a lot of singing and dancing. I enjoyed dancing in the aisle like a local. It was hard to understand the pastor I think I got his point of the need to fear the Lord. During my time here I have just done a lot of street ministry. Since J-Bay is really westernized it is cool to meet people at cafes and stores. It really has helped prepare me for ministry at home in my town. My friend Lindsey and I met a man on Thursday that works at the Quicksilver outlet. It has a really awesome story about how he has had a lot of near death experiences, but he knew the Lord was watching out for him. He is a believer. He showed us pictures of his new baby boy on his phone. We plan on taking him out for coffee and talking to him more today. We built a big beautiful sand castle together as a team.
We have also had times of worship and prayer on the beach. One morning before prayer we saw some dolphins. Two girls were baptized in the ocean which is really neat. I have really come to realize that toilet paper, hot showers and furniture are a luxury. Oatmeal and peanut butter and jellies are a delicacy now. And a ride in a car is a gift from God. I am finally starting to enjoy "tomato sauce"… which is a South African version of ketchup. Believe it or not I saw my first Christmas lights this year right down the road. On December 1st I watched the elf on my computer to start the 25 days of Christmas off right. I am super excited for my southern Christmas.
