Monday: Some of us went to one of the care points. All of the gogos were there cutting material to make purses. There are 8 Carepoints and many gogos cook at them for no wage. The purse ministry is a way for them to support their family. i hope to bring some purses back to the states to sell for them. So Monday we spent many hours cutting material. these women work so hard. one lady that i was helping has my swazi name- khanisyle- she told me she has 8 children- to me she didnt look her age- certainly not old enough to have 8 kids. all of the gogos are so beautiful- just by looking at them you can see their strength.
Tues.:I went to the hospital- i wandered into the maturnity ward to find the nurse i had given a bible to a month ago last time i was here. I finally found her and she told me that she reads it everyday-she takes it to church-and shares it with her family. i asked if she was understanding it and she replied... o yes yes. I asked if there was anything i could do.. and she said yes... you will pray for all of the women in the maturnity ward... so we proceeded to pray over all of the women and babies. I wish i could have spent more time with each woman, but its so hard to communicate- so pray that the Lord will give me the ability to learn the lanuage fast and remember names.
on our walk back down the hill from the hospital a young man ran toward us from this park-he was jumping over walls and stuff to get to us. His arm was in a sling and he had stiches around his mouth. his name is matthew. he asked if we had medicine i guess because we are white. I looked at him with excitement and said no we dont have medicine but we we have something much better... we can pray for you. and and agree so we prayed and heade onย our way. On Thursday we were headed down the hill again from the hospital and a young man is running towards us with his hands waving in the airย and we all look at each other and say surely this isnt matthew, but infact it was. he told us the pain was gone-he had very little. the sling was off and his countanace looked so much better. So praise the Lord -he is mighty!
Wednesday:
i want to two carepoints- it was the hottest day so far- i experienced my first flavored ice thing that we always see the swazi people eating. They are amazing! The first care point we went to is very neglected. all that it consisted of was a trailor container and a little shack for cooking the meals in. The shack was filled with smoke from the cooking and the container was way too hot to sit in. There is ablsolutely no where for the children to sit in the shade. there are no tress-nothing. it breaks my heart- i wanted to build a shade for them right then and there. The next carepoint wasnt much better. The cooking room was made of mud, sticks, and rocks. We had a birthday party for all of the children there and it was extravagent! They had a big blow up jumping thing, cake, presents, and balloons. It was really neat!
