This week we have been figuring out the ministries we will be doing this semester and what they will look like. Thursday and Friday was my first two days at the Ntabamhloshana carepoint. My friend Lindsey and I will be working together at this carepoint teaching the children biblical truth, building on basic foundational subjects, English, and life skills.
This carepoint is the one I talked about that doesn't have any shade. There is only a metal container, and a stick structure for cooking. The first day we played games and just got to know the gogo and the kids. There were over 42 children there on Thursday. I know more children will come too.We played duck, duck, goose for an hour. Then we had foot races. On Friday we played duck, duck, goose again and red light green light. It was so much fun, because the gogos play the games too. One of the gogos actually picked one little boy up by one arm and ran around the circle of kids with him in the duck, duck, goose game.
Friday we started teaching the children. This semester we are going to teach through the gospels about Jesus' life. So we started with the birth of Jesus of course. It was a little rough because of the communication barrier. We don't actually have a translator yet. One of the gogos actually ended up translating half-way through the teaching. But it was still good. We sang, danced, and prayed in the rain.
So on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday we will go to the carepoint. And on Wednesday I will go to the hospital. I talked to a nurse in the maternity ward this week about coming once a week. She told me that they will gather all the women together so I can teach them from the bible and pray for them. I love the ministry in the maternity ward so I am really looking forward to that opportunity.
